Weekly Prep Thread 6 July - 12 July

Hey all-

Posting this from my phone as I'm out of town, so pls forgive any errors.

Not too much in the way of prepping this past wee k. Canned several pints of salsa and a few more quarts of pickles. Would like to try cucumber kimchi. Anyone experienced at it? Loved it in Korea.

Thought I'd come in, have a cool one and have a look around here at GIM.. and it looks like a lot of folks are busy with all the 4th weekend stuff.
MY PREPS??? just getting the greenhouse base square. level and plumb for the frame and panels, It's a cool project, but has taken longer because of the record setting rainfall here in SE Oh.
Can't hardly wait for that first crop of Kale this winter when it's 20 degrees outside and kale/greens are 5 bucks a lb. at Krogers.

I went to Costco yesterday and spent a little money (not all of it on Doomsday Dining) and was glad to see they had Amy's organic frozen meals. They're good, and they cost half of what they do at the regular grocery store.

I tried that lentil soup last night and it was really good. Especially after adding some bacon grease, chipotle powder, cayenne, minced dried garlic, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh ground black pepper.

Bought a bunch of rice and a couple 25 lb. bags of oats...

Could I get some more details about storing grains? I was gonna get some buckets from Home Depot and then just load up, but I figured there was special procedures for long term rice and grain storage.... guess I was right. A little advice would be great. Thanks...

There IS a search feature and all of this has been discussed many times before.

Not trying to be an asshole, just sayin'.

Wow. Just wow.

Just a link will suffice in the future.

Or, no help at all will be fine too.

Ah!! Back from vacation and I see the world is continueing it's demise, into the dark dark pit.. So it's been a day at Wallyworld and Sams.

Rice (ARK) 50lbs. is at 26.00/50 down from a high of 31.00 two weeks ago(didn't buy any, haha)

Pasta(Spahgetti and elbow) is still at $5.24/ 6lb and from what I have seen that hasn't changed in 3 months(good buy)

Pinto beans(wallyworld) are 6.12/8lbs (4.7/oz)up from 5.92 3 months ago(still a good buy).

Hit the bank and pulled somemore cash, though probably not enough. The banksters look like they are getting ready to implode. How 'bout those Lehman Bro's

Oh, found some more Mason jar quarts at 7.99. Farm and Fleet is probably getting ready to put them on sale as no one is buying them. I bought some anyway.

Crap, I need more buckets and bags!!!

Ya know, this world going to Hell stuff really does suck!!! But then I guess everyone needs a hobby.
